Our History

Decades of Caring

The Almonte General Hospital Corporation consists of three entities: Almonte General Hospital, Fairview Manor and Lanark County Paramedic Service.

Almonte General Hospital

The Almonte General Hospital is a 52-bed acute/complex continuing care hospital serving Mississippi Mills (Almonte, Pakenham and Ramsay), Arnprior, Carleton Place, the City of Ottawa and surrounding townships. In addition to providing emergency and acute care, AGH provides the regional obstetrical, complex continuing care and day hospital programs.

AGH is the only rural hospital in this region that provides a full range of obstetrical/gynecological services, including 24-hour epidural, anesthetic and c-section coverage. AGH’s regional obstetrical program is staffed by three obstetrician/gynecologists plus family physicians who provide obstetrical services.

In 2018, Almonte General Hospital received two health care murals which were previously installed on historical buildings in downtown Almonte. Now this health care history can live on through these portraits on the exterior walls of the hospital. Learn more about the murals

Fairview Manor

Fairview Manor is a 112-bed long-term care facility whose residents are drawn from Mississippi Mills, Carleton Place, Beckwith, Lanark Highlands and the western part of the City of Ottawa.

In June 2002, AGH and the County of Lanark reached an agreement to redevelop Fairview on land adjacent to AGH. It is attached to the hospital by a linking hallway, which maximizes operating efficiencies while making it easy for patients, residents, volunteers, staff, physicians and visitors to move from building to building.

As part of the agreement, AGH agreed to assume management responsibilities for the existing Manor, effective July 1, 2003. The two facilities have been sharing support services since 1999. Ownership of the existing Manor was transferred to AGH on October 1, 2004.

Lanark County Paramedic Service

In 2000, AGH was selected to operate the Lanark County Paramedic Service in partnership with the County of Lanark.
